Drawing and Painting from the Model with Selina Trieff
460 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA
March 20-22, 1-4pm, $300
We are seeking to understand and translate our 3D world to the 2D surface of the canvas or paper. As we work to accomplish this we will study and sketch from the model. The goal is to explore various ways of drawing without stressing any particular style. Any drawing or painting materials can be used. The work of known artists is utilized to illustrate a variety of issues and approaches during our sessions together.
Selina Trieff studied with Hans Hofmann in New York and Provincetown. She received a BA from Brooklyn College where she studied with Ad Reinhardt and Mark Rothko. She is represented by the Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown, George Billis Gallery in New York, and the Ruth Bachofner Gallery in California. She has shown extensively in the U.S. and in Europe. Her work is represented in many public and private collections, and she has taught at various colleges and art schools.

Color Composition Workshop with Robert Henry
Color Composition Workshop with Robert Henry
460 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA
March 20-22, 1-4pm, $300
A three day workshop focusing on the use of color in composing paintings. This will include: creating the illusion of space with color; examining the qualities of light and shade; and the expressive and decorative use of color.
Using gouache paint, acrylic, or oil we will concentrate on the use of color either as an abstract element in itself, or as part of a figurative, still life or landscape composition. The paintings will start with color ideas rather than from a model or motif.
Materials and sizes at the artists' discretion, ie. paper or panels depending upon the media used.
Robert Henry’s numerous one-person exhibitions include the Cortland Jessup Gallery and Barbara Inger Gallery in New York, the Janus Avivson Gallery in London, and the Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown. His work hangs in the permanent collections of Brooklyn College, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Columbia University, Pace University, and many others. He is Professor Emeritus at Brooklyn College.
A past student wrote, Henry gave “the freedom to work in a nurturing but challenging environment. Bob was very generous with his knowledge and brings an important depth of experience and perspective into the class.”
